The Chestnut Centre  has become a ‘Centre for Warmth’, receiving funding through Northern Gas Network’s ‘Vulnerability & Carbon Monoxide Allowance (VCMA) fund.

This is a project for 2 years, up to March 2026.

This will enable us to support people struggling, particularly under the ‘Cost of Living’ crisis and life in general; with a particular focus on saving energy.

As part of this project, we have a dedicated team of ‘Community Connectors’, who can support the local community with:

  • Raising awareness of energy efficiency measures, to help reduce fuel poverty.
  • Help with understanding and managing your energy bills.
  • Raising awareness of Carbon Monoxide (including distributing CO alarms).
  • Advising about the Priority Service Register and signing up households to this.
  • Provide support around money management, income maximisation, benefit and access to services.
  • Provide advice on cooking nutritious meals more efficiently and less costly.
  • Reduce isolation by encouraging people to attend social groups.

If you would like to speak to a Community Connector, please contact us by email at info@lsy.co.uk or call The Chestnut Centre on 01484 516444.
